Welcome to TravelBlog

TravelBlog is the name for a collection of travel journals, diaries, stories and photos from round the world. It was started in April 2002, and has since grown to include stories from travellers around the world. If you want to start your own travelblog click here. Unlike many other sites of this kind of thing, travelblog is free! and will remain so.It's free because it's run by a traveller for the love of travelling and being inspired by other travellers stories and photos. One day there will be sponsors and adverts of some kind, but I promise to keep these down to a minimum - I don't like intrusive adverts either.

So things are improving - bigger images, upto 600px in either dimension, bugs fixed: portraits now upload (again), spaces in usernames allowed. There are a few bugs with the upload of some photos - I'm investigating. If you spot any other problems or bugs please send a mail to Webmaster@travelblog.org and I'll get on to it.

I hope you like what you see and feel free to send suggestions. Ali - writing from Hungary.

My sailing adventure didnt exactly set off smoothly because as I woke in the morning to prepare for my trip [Travel Journal]

Ruins and Wats

Asia : South East : Thailand : Ayuthaya
From Kanchanaburi I travelled to Ayuthaya, a small city just north of Bangkok. Ayuthaya was once the capital of the Siam Empire - ( which I never got the dates written down so will add in later. Damn!! This is why I should write these at the time)

Littered all around the city there were ageless ruins and Wats (temples) from this time, many [Travel Journal]
Kanchanaburi is a small town west of Bangkok that is surrounded by memories of the Second World War. The town itself is nothing special, the interest lies in its history - the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Death Railway, so called due to the 15 000 Prisoners of War and the 80 000 forced labourers who died in its making. 4 August 2003
I spent today driving through western Victoria. Down the Geelong Freeway, onto the Princes Highway, then through Colac and Camperdown, both towns I have worked in before. Near Terang I turned north, heading to Mortlake. There the road joins the Hamilton Highway. It was along this stretch that I stopped for the first time when I saw an abandoned homestead and got the [Travel Journal]
