Moto Racer takes the high speed action of motorcycle racing in a detailed 3D arcade environment to the next level of Playstation racing. There are two different types of racing within 10 varied tracks ranging from the street racing type tracks to the high jumping dirt tracks of motocross racing. Once in the air after jumping off of a hill or mound the player can perform a trick to show off his skills. You can also test your skills by performing a wheelie but watch out around those tight corners or you will come crashing and go flying off of your vehicle. There is 2 player split screen and the standard three types of races ranging from the championship to the singlerace and the always cool practice mode against the clock. The level design in the game is superb as is apparent in the "Great Wall" track which pits you against the other racers atop a simulated Great Wall Of China. I have had a tremendous amount of fun with this game and can only hope for a sequel.

control

The reason to own an analog pad is right here. I don't think any other game could have as precise a control as this game. While using the 2 analog sticks on the Sony analog pad is a little awkward at first it soon becomes so natural that you will wonder how you ever played a racing game without it. The digital control in the game is fine tuned as well but to experience the pure bliss of this racer you MUST get a Sony analog. Perfect control has helped propel this game further into greatness in my opinion. It doesn't get much better than this folks.

graphics

Graphically this game also excels with its beautiful 30 FPS and fast moving 3D graphics engine. The programmers did an excellent job of hiding popup as well as keeping the framerate at a blazing speed. Each of the different views in the game provide a different visual experience chock full of realism. The in dash view for example shows just how bumpy of a ride it would be to ride at 90mph over a small dirt mound. Although not as nearly stunning as its PC counterpart the programmers have breathed some life into the PSX's stagnant racing market.

sound
17
Here is where the game falters the most. The sound and music in the game are repetitive and very boring. The music fails to capture the spirit of the fast paced racing style and the constant buzzing of the motorcycle's engine becomes irritating and annoying. Although not detrimental to the games performance a musical overhaul is in order here.

Moto Racer is a fabulous game in a sorely missed genre of motorcycle racing games. This game ranks high on my favorites and is only eclipsed by F1 championship for my favorite racer this year. If you love racing or motorcycles then do yourself a favor and go get this superb game.
