     Old Testament References in Iraq
 
  The crade of civilization was at the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Close to 95% of Iraqi citizens live near the rivers. The following are references to the Old Testament:

The presumed location of the Garden of Eden, located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, became a combat zone.

Warplanes patrolled the sky over Ur, famous as the birthplace of Abraham.

The port city of Umm Qasr is believed to be the site of the Tower of Babel.

The first clash between Coalition Forces and the Iraq Republican Guard occured at the site of the ancient city of Babylon, where Israelites exiled and the prophet Danile lived.

280,000 Iraqi Catholics are members of the Eastern Chaldean Church.
