Catholic Schools Week is a nationwide event that recognizes the high standards of excellence and the quality of the education available to all students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the United States. Nationwide, more than 2.6 million students attend 8,146 Catholic elementary and secondary schools. In the 10-county Archdiocese of Milwaukee, 36,598 students attend the 145 elementary and secondary schools.

"I am continually reminded of the priceless gift of Catholic education as I spend time with our school students," said Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan. "The spirit of Jesus is alive and at work in our children. This is directly related to our faith-based environment for learning our Catholic Schools provide. Our schools educate students academically, morally, socially and spiritually. Our Catholic faith is woven into every aspect of a Catholic school education."

Catholic Schools Week will culminate with the 13th annual Catholic Schools Dinner on Monday, February 2. Ulice and Carmella Payne will serve as the chairpersons of the Dinner. Dr. John Augenstein, retired Dean of the Marquette University School of Education, will receive the Catholic School Champion Award.
