================ A Control-Z Tutorial ================ Exploding/Destructive Cracks Note: Please refer to the crack.map file when working through this tutorial. 1. In 3D mode, create an opening where you want to put your exploding crack. To do this, put an area in your wall just like you were going to make a window opening. You can slant the ceiling and floor to give it more realism, using the < [ > and < ] > keys. (NOTE: if your slant is is going front-to-back instead of side-to-side, go into 2D mode, put your on one of the opening's lines inside the wall and hold the left key down and press the letter key. This will align your slant from the other direction). 2. Next, in 2D mode, place your cursor inside the opening and hold the left key and press the key to invoke the Trigger/Channel dialog menu. Enter the following input: Type 600 : Z Motion RX ID: 101 (or any other number specific to this opening, crack, and explosion) 3. In 3D mode, place your cursor upon the ceiling of the opening and hold the left key and press the key. Lower the ceiling down to the bottom of the opening, hold the left key and press the key. This will set the opening when the explosion is triggered. You can toggle the opening to open or closed using either the or after placing your cursor on the outer wall of the opening. 4. Now place a wall crack sprite directly on the wall where your opening is going to be (texture # 1127). In 2D mode, place your cursor on the wall sprite, hold the ket and press to bring up the sprite dialog menu, and enter the following input: Type: 408: Wall Crack (using the key to speed advances by groups of 10) TX ID: 101 Cmd: 1: On Send When: x going ON x going OFF 5. Return to 3D mode and set a couple of Hidden Exploders around near the opening (texture # 908). Make them as narrow as possible with the arrow keys, so they will remain invisible at game time. You might want to raise them off the ground a bit using the key. Go into 2D mode, re-invoke the sprite dialog menu and enter the following: Type 459: Hidden Exploder RX ID : 101 Send When: waitTime = 1 (or 2, or 3, or 4, to vary the explosions) 6. Return to 3D mode, and place an explosive weapon somewhere in your map. Save your work, and Exit. Now you have an explosive crack when you go into the game! =================================== Tutorials and Sample Maps by Control-Z (Craig Duckett - Seattle, WA - June 21, 1997)
