Subject: 98-DaddysLittleGirl Hi all... This is a stand-alone 3rd season sequal to a 1st season 1-part piece called the Talent Show. The Talent Show was a N+N, but Daddy's Little Girl is most of 3rd season, so... But this time it's Tracy and Vachon on stage... hope you enjoy... (BTW, the title was my hubby's idea - I have a hard time with titles!) -Micki (BTW, this is just being typed straight in, so not only is it not beta'd, but it isn't going to even be spell-checked... so please bear with me) (98/07/19 - ADDENDUM: permission for Mel or the FTP site to archive, or for any T+Vpacker or DP also. Anyone else, please ask first.) -=-=-=- Tracy and Nick were sitting in the caddy waiting for the person they had to go and talk with to get off work. The topic changed from the unseasonable weather and it's effect on the crime rate, and then to the upcoming charity fundraiser. "By the way, Nick, rumour has it that a couple of year ago you and Natalie went in it and won?" Nick rolled his eyes. He still missed Schanke since his death, but he thought that the one good thing that would come out of it was that he had hoped that he'd finally get a chance to live down that horibly embarrasing song that Natalie had coersed him into performing with her. Apparently this NOT the case. "Yeah." He wasn't going to offer any information he could avoid giving. "So... What did you guys do? I heard you had a song and that you really embarassed Natalie." This was gtting harder by the minute. He knew Tracy wouldn't let up once she was onto something. Nick sighed. "We did a little song called 'Donald, Where's your Troosers'..." "I've never heard of it. Who sings it?" "It isn't exactly what you'd call top ten, or anything. It's a scottish guy relating some of his... experiences... with wearing a kilt in an area where kilts are not common dress for men." "That sounds fun. If you've got a copy of it around somewhere, I'd love to hear it sometime. But why would Natalie be embarassed by it?" Nick sighed, and stared out the window wishing vainly their contact was off work already. "Do you know anything about the wearing of kilts?" When she shook her head no, he continued. "Let me put it this way. Ther are 2 ways to wear them. One's with underwear. One part of the song is about the ladies having fun in the underground subway by turning their heads..." Nick was begining to wonder how much exactly he was going to have to spell out for Tracy. In his opinion she was a very bright woman, but sometimes she seemed not to think. "How do you get to the underground?" "Oh, stairs?" Just when Nick was about to elaborate a little more, Trace suddenly grinned. "So he's on the stairs, with a kilt, and without underwear?" This time Nick nodded. "So why would..." Tracy stopped mid sentence... "You didn't? And she found out?" Tracy was grinning incredulously. This was a side of her partner she had never seen. She didn't think nick knew how to be anything but serious. Nick nodded. "She was supposed to flip a corner of the kily up enough to peek under it at that point in the song. We'd rehersed it, but when we rehersed, I wasn't trying to embarrass Natalie." "OH..." Tracy blushed a little herself. "Then I guess you guys won't be too upset with what we're doing for the one this year." Nick smiled. 'What are you doing, Tracy?" "OH look... there comes Robert out from work now. Let's go catch up with him." Nick sighed, but went along with her when she leftthe caddy. ---- It was later that night when Nick and Natalie were sitting in the loft after work, chatting, and Nick told Natalie about what Tracy had said. "She didn't tell you anything?" "Nope." "Are you curious enough about it now to want to go to it, Nick?" "You'd like to, wouldn't you?" "You already know that, Nick." "Okay. I'll pick up our tickets tomorrow. You know it's only a few days away?" "Yes... I'm really glad you decided to go, Nick." ---- Nick and Natalie were sitting at a table with Tracy and Vachon, and a couple of other officers whom they knew, and their dates. When the talent show was announced, Tracy stood up, and motioned to Vachon to join her. A handful of male officers scattered about the room stood and walked to meet her by the door to where the entrants were congregating. They stood milling about briefly, before they all dissappeared into the back... Captain Reese had come over to chat with Nick and Natalie briefly, and was still sitting with them when the lights went down. He looked back and realized that his wife had moved off to mingle with some of the other wives she knew, so he decided to stay, and seated himself on the chair that Tracy had vacated. When the host came out to anounce the events, Captain Reese asked in a whisper "So do either of you know what she's got up her sleeve? All I know is she was really hoping her fatherweould decide not to come out for it. But he did. I don't know why that would matter, but it seemed to." The curtain went up on the first contestant, and they fell silent, waiting to see who all they knew and waiting in particular for Tracy, who had refused to tell anyone anything. The only hint as to it was that she expected to be embarrassed by it, as she had ordered a double drink to be waiting for her at the table when she returned. And Tracy seldom drank. Finally, the third contestants were introduced: The male officers all first, then Tracy, and Vachon was mentioned last as Tracy's boyfriend, which made Nick and Nat exchange glances, and Richard Vetter slipped in to the table and and asked quietly "Boyfriend? Do you know this fellow, Joe?" Reese looked at nick and Natalie and said quitely, "No, but she generally doesn't talk to me about personal stuff." As the lights dimmed once more the elder Vetter looked pointedly at first Nick then Natalie. Nick whispered, "He's ok." This earned him a glare from the commissioner. Natalie added quietly, "He is. He's actually a lot like Nick. Just... younger. But he really is a good guy." She heard Tracy's father grunt at that, but the music was starting, and so he sat quietly, and along with everyone else, his eyes were focussed on the stage. The spotlight came on, and Vachon stood in it, holding a microphone. Then he started singing a Chris De Burgh classic. Dennis is a Menace with his 'anyone for tennis?' And beseeching me to come and keep the score... And Maud says 'Oh Lord! I'm so terribly bored!' And I really can't stand it anymore... Vachon stood up off of the stool, and began to walk across the stage slowly as he sang... and those watching the shadows would have noticed a few minor props being moved around in the darkness... I'm going out to dinner with a gorgous singer To a little place I found down by the Quay; Her name is Patricia, she calls herself Delicia, And the reason isn't very hard to see... She says God made her a sinner just to keep fat men thinner, As they tumble down in heaps before her feet, They hang around in groups like battle-weary troops, One can often see them queue right down the street... The lights widened to encompass a full side of the stage, and it looked like men in a bar were watching a stage performance just out of sight for the audience... You see Patricia, or Delicia, not only is a singer She also removes all her clothing... Nick and Natalie heard both Reese and Tracy's dad inhale sharply, nad hold it For Patricia is the best stripper in town, The men on stage seemed to cheer wildly, as Tracy -as the dancer in the show they seemed to be watching- briefly danced into view, dressed properly for the 1920's. but then she danced out of view again, and all that the real laudience saw was bits and pieces of clothing, as mentioned, come flying out to be founght over by the men in her audience. And with a swing of her hips she started to strip, To tremendous applause she took off her drawers, And with a lick of her lips she undid all the clips Threw it all in the air, and everybody stared, And as the last piece of clothing fell to the floor The police were banging on the door, Suddnely there seemed to be pounding and and the men in her audience were frantically trying to get out as the bobbies came racing in. On a Saturday night, in nineteen twenty-four... Take it away, boys! Then as they dragged Tracy across the stage wrapped in a blanket, he continued while others were changing the chairs around in the half of the stage that had just been the bar. But poor Patricia was arrested and everyone detested The manner in which she was exposed. Now the stage was lit on the other half, and the seating arrangments were suggestive of a courtroom. And later on in court, well, everybody thought That a summer run in Gaol might be proposed, But the judge said "Patricia, or may I say Delicia, The fact's of this case lie before me... The man in the front picked up the clothing and old fashioned undergarments from the table before him, and dropped them back onto the table. Case dismissed.... this girl was in her best working clothes!!" The man who seemed to be her jailer released her, and as the chorus began again, Tracy began to strip. And with a swing of her hips, she started to strip, To tremendous applause, she took off her drawers, And with a lick of her lips, she undid all the clips Tracy's back was too the audience, and unless one looked closely, she appeared to be naked. And as the last piece of clothing fell to the floor, Tracy turned to face the audience, across the chest and groin of her flesh-tone leotard was stamped in big black letters "censored". The police were yelling out for more!!! This time there was a lot of cheering from the real audience as well as her stage audience. On a Saturday night, in nineteen twenty-four... On a Saturday night, in nineteen twenty-four... As the music played out Vachon put down the microphone and walked towards Tracy. The full lights began to come up, and all of the others in their little performance also came forward and joined them. They took a quick bow while there was all sorts of hooting and cheering, and then exitted the stage. Nick and Natalie lookedat each other, and both laughed. Nick grinned. "Now I know why she said we wouldn't be upset..." Nick stopped as Natalie gestured towards Richard Vetter who was still sitting with them. Natalie had never seen anyone look so pale, unless they were either laying-on-her-table-in-the-morgue dead, or walking-around-in-her- morgue-looking-for-blood dead... until now. She reached out and put a hand on his arm. "Are you ok, commissioner?" He nodded his head. But then she saw him reach into his breast pocket and pull out a small vial and take a tablet which he popped under his tongue. Natalie handed him a glass of water. After a minute, he spoke. "Tracy doesn't know that I too have a heart problem. Mine isn't as severe as my brother's was, but I still don't want her to know." He looked pointedly at Natalie and at Reese. "She asked if I was going to be here and waited until I said No before she committed to this. I still wanted to see my little girl perform, but I don't want her to know I was here. I'll be leaving now. Please, do not let her know I was here." He nodded at the rest of them, said goodbye and stood, and quickly made fore the exit. It was only a moment later when the group came out from the back, Tracy wearing a pair of sweatpants and a button-front shirt tied in front of her, and you could see that she was still wearing the leotard underneath it. But Nick and Nat both grinned as they saw Tracy and Vachon walking towards them hand in hand. Natalie stood and gave them Tracy a hug. Tracy was blushing so hard that Natalie was afraid she'd explode. "Well done Trace! I'm sure you guys will win hands down! I don't think I've ever seen better." Tracy reached over for her drink, and gulped the drink down. Then she sat. Reese congratulated them, then excused himself to go. Natalie saw the direction he went, and knew he was going to go and check on Tracy's dad, whom she didn't know had seen her. Natalie really appreciated that. It was only a few minutes later when Tracy decided she didn't want to stay, and she and Vachon decided to leave. Nick and Natalie watched them head out into the Toronto night, and decided that maybe they'd do the same. As they were exiting the building Nick heard with his enhanced hearing someone trying to explain to everyone that Tracy had left already, and them deciding to give her her prize at the precinct on her next shift. ~That'll make for an interesting shift tomorrow~ he mused. -=-=-=- Well, that's it... crazy enough? Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this bit of craziness! -Micki
