Macologist News |
Wed Feb 09, 2005 9:12 pm by Rogue | Comments (2)
In a press statement today Aspyr Media Inc. announced they have withdrawn from plans to develop Men of Valor for Mac.
The decision to remove the title from Aspyr's calendar was a result of
several different factors and much deliberation. Aspyr remains dedicated to
continuing to bring high-quality games to Mac users and apologizes for the
change of plans.
This news comes as a great blow to the Mac gaming community as this was going to be one of this year's highly anticipated titles.

Full Mod Review: Red Orchestra 3.1
A full-conversion mod for Unreal Tournament 2004

The mod is yet another first person shooter, with two teams blowing the crap out of each other for victory. The premise of the game -- Axis versus Allie ...

Desert Combat 0.7 is 2004's Macologist Mac Mod of the Year
The Macologist staff is pleased to announce Trauma Studio's Desert Combat 0.7 as our Mod of the Year for 2004. The nomination process began in December, with voting completed this week. Candidates were the most-downloaded mods at Macologist, for games such as Battlefield 1942, Unreal Tournament 2004, Halo, Homeworld 2, and Call of Duty. The online vote was overwhelming for for Desert Combat 0.7, as the mod that made the most difference to the Mac gaming community for 2004.
Desert Combat is one of the few mods that some would argue has garnered more interest that the hit parent game itself, Battlefield 1942. I ...

Half Hour: a C&C Generals Mod Review
by super_kev
Introduction
Half Hour (currently at version 3.0) is one of the most complete mods for Generals out there. It adds some new units, buildings, researchable sciences, Generals weapons, and other things. I installed the mod (a Mac-friendly installer is available here) and launched Generals without a hitch. The main screen is a serene Chinese military c ...

Macologist has just converted three mods for the Mac RTS game C&C Generals: Call to Arms, United Fighting Force, and Half Hour. These mods were especially difficult to convert, but with the technical help from new Macologist C&CG staffers Disc and Super_Kev, the conversions to OS X installers was possible by Abram. He also wrapped Disc's Mappack2 containing 61 essential maps, and we've even added Black Magik's BIG file extractor utility for those of you wanting to convert your own C ...

Full Mod Review: Robin Hood & the King's Ransom
Unreal 2004 full conversion mod
Introduction
This mod for UT2004 first garnered attention when it received 4th place in Phase IV of Epic's Make Something Unreal (MSU) Contest, behind the better known mods such as Alien Swarm and Air Buccaneers, and above even the eventual 2nd place Grand Final finisher Damnation. Upon visiting their nicely flash-animated official website by dev Tastelike Chicken, ...
