Big Sister Extra!

The site that started it all!

This is a fan page about Big Sister, an all-female rock group from Woodstock, NY.
Big Sister are:
Lara Parks, guitars, vocals
Shelly Prior, guitars, backing vocals
Lisa Wexler, drums
Desiree Williams, bass
Denise Parent, drums and percussion
Jen Leigh, guitar
Alana Orr, bass ?

The time has come! "So Hi How Are Ya?" has finally been last year released by Capricorn after two years of waiting. Their Universal contract expired, so Volcano now distributes it as of this May. Pick it up now!

Who is the big sister of Big Sister? I think it's Dez 'cuz she's the tallest at 5'10". It could also be Lise 'cuz she's the oldest in her middle age.

"Some Songs" was released in 1998 as an indie. It was originally was going to have five songs, but at the last minute, the gals added three more. There are two versions of one song, "Doubt", just because they couldn't decide which one is better.

Also try "Why My Mind Just Up and Left", their previous effort from 1995.

"Live at the Lake" is the very first CD, but I don't have that because Desiree isn't on it. She didn't wanna join the group then because she thought the group specialised in blues. She did join them on their sophomore CD "Why My Mind Just Up and Left", and so on.

Jen and Denise joined the group in 1999, and Ann this year, so Big Sister has gotten bigger!

This is no ordinary fan page. I actually have known Desiree the bass player from Anderson School in Staatsburg, NY. She taught me everything I need to know about the group. She left there in February 1999 as things started to change. For almost a year and a half, she worked at a
music store in Kingston. I sure hope she's till in the band. I just got the CD cheap on half.com
I bet you're wondering why this site has no photos. Well, I don't have a scanner. One day, I might have this at another URL.

Desiree's e-mail address is unmasked@webtv.net

Since the group is now with a big company, they could be in the Lilith Fair next year. Just have got to convince Sarah MacClachan, the founder of that, to bring it back. That's been a dream of mine for a while now. Not loud enough for OzzFest!

If you love Big Sister, sign the guestbook. We want still it filled to the brim!

Thank you visiting Big Sister Extra! Come often.
