Phillip E. Hardy about DICARLO:
He is a tireless promoter who writes Homeric messages that often rival the length of a Tolstoy novel.
At Besonic, he is known artist, band, musician, author, lyricist, producer, manager, organizer, DJ, teacher, dancer, drummer and singer; and there are probably ten other entertainment related things he does that I have somehow overlooked. However, I think of him as the mad man across the pond. His name is DICARLO, a transplanted New Yorker now residing in Berlin. When I asked this American expatriate how he wound up living in Germany, he laughingly told me "I came here with an off Broadway show, liked it here and stayed. After numerous bands, record deals and girlfriends, I'm still here."
If you ever read or participated in writing threads for the Besonic forum, you have probably noticed that DICARLO is the most conspicuous participant. He is a tireless promoter who writes Homeric messages that often rival the length of a Tolstoy novel. At times, he also participates in verbal jousting with other Besonic artists who engage him in musical debate. But more often he is advertising a new song for one of his many projects or enthusiastically offering support to his fellow artists.
DICARLO has an impressive track record working with well known artists including The Weather Girls, Todd Rundgren, Patti La Belle, Rick Derringer, Larry Coryell and Denise Brooks. He has also appeared on Broadway for a Chorus Line, The Wiz, The Lieutenant, and has performed in various Off-Broadway productions and dinner-theatre shows (DICARLO website).
At Besonic, DICARLO offers up a selection of music ranging from the recent Hard House sensation Love Power, a pulsating and accessible dance instrumental to the playful, melodic funk of Let Me Out. DICARLO writes and produces in over 20 genres. Additionally, the DICARLO catalogue includes Warm Up, which is the finest straight ahead jazz track that I have heard posted at this site. The song features a three minute drum solo showcasing DICARLO'S formidable drumming chops. Sounding like Tony Williams with John Scofield, the track also offers the superb bass playing of Thomas Koch and the virtuoso guitar work of Loomis Green.
Finally, Mister DICARLO often boasts of his musical achievements; but unlike those who overrate their own abilities, he has the talent to back it up |
