Having made a disastrous start to the season, and his worst ever performance in an episode the previous week, Lorne went from zero to hero, scoring not only his highest scoring episode by a margin of 31 lines, but his second career gold and first medal since Provider way back in season 3. Lorne’s success was a mixture of both plot and tactics. Certainly the plot did revolve around him, but as The House Always Wins showed last year, that is seldom enough for Lorne to even score a medal, it did however give him the foundations for launching an attempt at winning this ep. “Two for the price of one” is always a good tactic, however this particular variation was poorly executed. Reflection Lorne whilst providing a few lines, and opportunity for normal Lorne to speak, was ruined by Lorne himself,  and Hulk Lorne’s inclusion actually proved a disadvantage as he couldn’t speak and stopped regular Lorne from speaking too. Lorne’s good tactics instead stem from changing his approach and just being a bit more forceful, rather than wait to be asked for advice, Lorne forced the others to hear his advice. In the end it was this suitable change in tactic, that changed the outcome of this game.

Saying that taking the other regulars out of their normal roles must have surely aided Lorne’s attempt. Angel was forced into a relationship with Eve, severely decreasing his opportunity to score (Points that is), whilst a happy Spike is never gonna get the air time of depressed Spike, and who wants to see too much Gunn Peeing. Wes and Fred though did well from finding themselves suddenly drunk, scoring a combined 89 between them, though sadly for Fred she missed out on the bronze by one line to Wes.

Angel didn’t waste the episode though, he still picked up 77 and Silver, much-improved on last week. More importantly he finally beat that 2-year-old record of the most lines any character has had in a five episode run, as he scored 448 lines between Conviction and Life of The Party, 4 lines more than he achieved between season 3’s Provider and Sleep Tight.
