Harmony set a new
record in episode 9, not just any record, but the record for the most number of
lines in a single game. A record that has stood unchallenged since the season
one game Eternity (won by Guest Star Rebecca Lowell), which she beat by a
margin of no less than 17 lines. It’s 30 lines higher than Angel’s highest
score.
So what did Harmony
do to take such a record, surprisingly little actually. The plot was such that
victory was inevitable, following Harmony around, showing everything from the
morbid to the mundane meant that Harm couldn’t really fail to be onscreen
regardless of what she was doing. The only real tactic that could make any
difference was to make sure to converse with plenty of different people, and
try to avoid fights. Which she did, nuff said.
But it seems not
everyone got the memo for the plot of this episode. Angel, Gunn and Wes had
been reading TV Guide, and thought the plot was actually something to do with
demon rights, throwing themselves into that B-Plot with pretty disastrous results.
Spike meanwhile paid the price for not reading up on his interviews, and wasted
his entire effort on going to Buffy, only to have his contract pointed out to
him at the end of the show. I’m not even sure what Lorne’s been reading, but he
is still under the impression that throwing in celebrity names and getting
knocked out will be enough to get by. It seems out of the regulars only Fred
realised what the actual plot was, and made any sort of an effort to converse
with Harmony, she was well rewarded for this, picking up a silver and 62 lines,
which actually makes this Fred’s seventh highest scoring episode. Then again
this was a Craft & Fain episode, this is the fourth episode they have
written to make Fred’s top ten list.
