The season began with When She Was Bad, and unsurprisingly Buffy dominating from the beginning, scoring 111 in that episode. For the Next 15 games Buffy dominated as always but only scored a minimum of 100 lines in 11 episodes in the entire season, still it is a feat that she has only managed 3 times this season. Xander caused the only upset in the season, when he beat Buffy 115 lines to 60 in Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered, But Buffy also only narrowly won innocence, when she scored 69 to Xander’s 68. Buffy’s highest scoring episode was Lie To Me(136) and her lowest the before mentioned BBB(60). In comparison to season 7 Buffy has had 14 Gold episodes, four Silver and one Bronze. Her highest is Help(121) and her lowest is Touched(33). Her average rating in season 2 was down from season ones 118.4, to 95.5. in season 7 it was a mere 76.1

Xander improved on last season to take second. Getting the previously mentioned Gold with Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered(115), which also saw him become the third character to break the 100 line mark, and was unsurprisingly his highest scoring episode. As well as the Gold Xander also achieved 5 Silver’s and 6 and a half bronzes (he shared 3rd place in Becoming Pt2 with Joyce). His Silver episodes were When She Was Bad(79), Inca Mummy Girl(94), Bad Eggs(74), Innocence(68) and Go Fish(62). His lowest scoring episode was Passions(23) In comparison in season 7, Xander had 2 silver episodes and 4 bronze, with a high of 54 (Selfless) and low of 2(Lies My Parents Told Me) and did not appear in Conversations with Dead People. Xander’s average in season 2 was 52.6 down from last seasons 55.8. In season 7 was just 29.2  (these averages are for the 21 episodes the character appeared in).

Willow improved on her first season performance, to take 3rd, displacing Giles by a sizeable margin. Taking 4 Silvers and 5 Bronze medals, with her Silver episodes being Halloween(92), Phases(72), Killed By Death(63) and I Only Have Eyes For You(60). Halloween was also her highest scoring episode, and her lowest Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered(22). In comparison Willow had one Gold, two Silver and one Bronze in season 7, a high of 104(Killer In Me) and a low of 6(Lies My Parents Told Me). Her average in season 2 was down slightly from last seasons 47.8 to 45.6. In season 7 it was just 31.2.

Giles faired less well in season 2, dropping two spots in the rankings, and finishing way behind Xander and Willow. Giles had only 4 silver and 1 Bronze episodes in season 2, three bronze medals less than season ones 12 episodes. His Silver episodes being Some Assembly Required(65), The Dark Age(101), What’s My Line Part 1(53) and Passions(48). With The Dark Age being his highest scoring episode, and making him the second character to break the 100 lines in an episode mark (after Buffy). Giles’s lowest episode was Go Fish(18). Giles is no longer a regular, but in season 7 he had only two silver episodes and one bronze. His average for season 2 was down sharply from last seasons 53.5 to 40.7. In season 7 it is currently 22.5, in episodes he appeared in.

Angel was bumped up to regular status in season 2, and as a result narrowly took Fifth spot from Cordellia, despite being absent from the episode Inca Mummy Girl. Since Angel was desouled for much of season 2 it is worth mentioning that as Angel he had 231, and as Angelus 293 lines. Angel had two silver episodes and two and a half Bronze episodes (sharing honours with Jenny in Passions), with his silver episodes being Surprise(63) and Becoming Part 1(43). He also had 61 lines in Innocence, but Surprise was his highest scoring episode, and his lowest was Ted(5). Angel is now a regular on AtS but did appear in the series finale, where he picked up his final silver episode. His average number of lines in season 2 was 25.0, up from last seasons 19.4. (This is for episodes he appeared in).

Cordellia slipped down from 5th into 6th and took only 2 bronze medals. Her highest scoring episode surprisingly being Killed By Death(55), although Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered was only slightly lower at 54. Her lowest scoring episode was Lie To Me(4). Cordellia was a regular on AtS for the first 4 seasons, and will hopefully appear in season 5. She has not appeared on the Buffy since Graduation Day Pt 2. Her line average for season 2 was 23.5 down only slightly on last seasons 23.9

Spike was the highest ranked non-regular in seventh position, and had two silver episodes School Hard(67) and Becoming Part 2(39). Becoming Part 2 was an incredibly close episode with Xander and Joyce on 38 and Angel(us) on 37. Buffy had 99 lines in that episode. School Hard was his highest scoring episode and his lowest in which he appeared was Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered(6). The character appeared in 12 episodes in total in season 2. Spike became a regular on the show in season 4, and in season 7 he has had 1 Gold episode, 3 silver episodes and 2 and a half bronze episodes His highest scoring episode in season 7 in Beneath You(75) and his lowest Conversations with Dead People(0). Spike had a line average of 23.8 in season two, in season 7 this was up, to 27.7. Spike will be a regular on Season 5 of Angel

Joyce despite slipping to Eighth, improved on season 1 by achieving two and a half bronze medals, and had her highest scoring episode in Bad Eggs(49), and her lowest with Surprise(6). Joyce appeared in a total of 11 episodes in season 2. Joyce’s character was killed off in I was made to love you, however the character has subsequently appeared through fantasies, dreams and flashbacks. Joyce’s last credited episode in Normal Again, writers comments have revealed that Kristine Sutherland was playing the First in Conversations with Dead People and Bring on the Night. Joyce had an average of 24.2 lines per episode in season 2, up on the first seasons 17.6. Jenny also slipped down a spot which is surprising given that she appeared in only 2 episodes in season 1, and had no medals. In season 2 Jenny was awarded one and a half bronze medals, with her highest episode being the Dark Age(52), her lowest in which she appeared was Ted(6). Jenny was killed off in Passions and the character never returned. Her image was subsequently used by both Drusilla and the First.

Oz despite winning no medals Oz gets a special mention as a future regular. Oz appeared in a total of 10 episodes in season 2, with his highest scoring episode unsurprisingly being Phases(45) and his lowest Becoming Part 2(2). Oz is no longer on the show, although still alive, his last credited appearance is through dream in Restless. Oz had an average of 13.5 lines in season 2. Whilst Oz failed to win a medal, several guest stars did. Potential Xander love interest Ampata won Bronze for Inca Mummy Girl(83), whilst Potential Buffy love interest Tom Warner won Silver for Reptile Boy(48). Buffy’s old school friend Billy ‘Ford’ Fordham got the highest score of any guest star with a 97 and silver medal for Lie To Me. Finally Ted picked up Silver medal unsurprisingly in the episode Ted(71). Recurring character Kendra is the final character to make the medals table, after she achieved a silver medal in the episode What’s My Line Part 2(86). Kendra appeared in only 3 episodes, and was killed off in Becoming part 1.
