  • Tue 29 March - So, my computer got stolen, right? Ah, woe. And with it, my homepage, editing software, all that stuff.... but I'm back in the saddle after several months, and I have some excellent ideas to share with you all. Keep in touch...
  • Mon 19th July - Finally got around to working up some original content over at the Dragon Warriors resource depository.
  • Wed 07 July - Off to the US in a month, thought I'd tidy the site up a bit as an offering to the gods. I've been working on a new RPG resource recently - an abstract currency system for fantasy games along similar to my post-apocalyptic barter idea. Check it out, let me know what you think.
  • Fri 12 December - Rhodes was a blast. More info on the town and campus' own pages. Been playing a lot of Darkstone, which I can only describe as 'Euro Diablo', and with which I am super-impressed.
  • Sun 22nd June - Latest news: I got a distinction for my dissertation (w00t!) and I'm off to Rhodes University to teach history for six months. The whole story is up on my Academia page.
  • Tues 25 February - What could it be that has kept me away from this site so long? Is it Wine? Women? Song? No, I'm afraid it's Laser Squad Nemesis. Click on this link and see what I'm talking about.
  • Mon 30 December - Put up an online CV for my mom. Check it out over at my Iafrica page.
  • Mon 1 July - Just got back from the First International African Film & History Conference, which was held this weekend at UCT. Interesting stuff! The conference's website can tell you more.
  • Wed 26 June - Check out the House of Cards, where all the work I've done on my new campaign is going. In other news - I graduated last Friday! One down, two to go.
  • Sun 14th April - I've finally worked out how to abuse the free web space handed out by my ISP, and have used it to host my photography page, the Eyeballfolio. Also, a new piece in the Poems section.
  • Thurs 31 January - Raw Deal, a new card-based free RPG system, is now available on the Modules page, and I've put some work into a more up-to-date version of the timeline for the Twilight: 2000 RPG.
  • Thurs 24 January - Back in the saddle! After a brief absence, this site is once again riding the range. Many thanks again to Graham and his crew at Real-IT for keeping the Eyeball Kid online.

2001

  • Mon 3rd September - My last character having ended up as a pair of smoking boots, here's his replacement: a bounty hunter with a grim outlook on life.
  • Mon 25 June - Exams are finished! 'Rayyyy! And to celebrate, I've opened up a new section of my Unknown Armies depot - the Haunts.
  • Sun 27th May - Lots of term-end papers due recently, a turn of events which has occasioned an Academic Papers page to keep track of all the damn things.

Old News and Site Bio

This site has been a going concern since April 2000. Since then, it's trebled in size, moved servers twice, and handled about four changes of email address. Some sections were created using Microsoft Frontpage Express 2.0; others were created using a combination of pure HTML editing (mmm... Notepad.... mmmm....) and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Pages were size-optimised by up to 22% using the excellent HTML Shrinker software.

The Eyeball Kid is the title of a song by Tom Waits.

The site is kindly hosted by Real-IT and the indomitable Graham Hoffman.

OLD NEWS

Mon 13th November 2000 - The second draft of ZENOBIA is now available, having benefited from some good feedback on issues of layout and screen size compatibility.

Sat 4th November 2000 - I've put up a free RPG which I'm calling Generic Destinies. It features some weird rolling strategies, lots of polyhedral dice, and freeform character profile creation.
