Catholic Communication Campaign "How the Good News Gets Around" Art Contest

The Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) of the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is sponsoring an art contest for children in 1st through 6th grades.

“The CCC’s theme is HOW THE GOOD NEWS GETS AROUND. We all know that Jesus was a great storyteller,” said Ramon Rodriguez, CCC’s Director of Development, “He told many stories about the GOOD NEWS, God’s love for each of us. We are inviting students to draw a picture of how Jesus would tell the GOOD NEWS today.”

Entry information is available at this link. The deadline for submission is March 1. Contest winners will be announced Monday, May 1.

First-, second-, and third-place winners will be selected on the basis of originality and creativity. Cash prizes will be awarded.

“The winning artwork will be featured on our web site during May, Communications Month,” said Rodriguez. “In today’s world, young people are bombarded with media messages, day in and day out. We hope that parents and teachers will encourage students to reflect upon how Jesus might use today’s media to tell the GOOD NEWS. Then, we invite the students to use their creative talents to portray Jesus telling the GOOD NEWS.”

Persons with questions can e-mail them to contest@catholiccommunicationcampaign.org.

The Catholic Communication Campaign develops media programming, public service announcements, and other resources to promote Gospel values. Donations of Catholic parishioners make possible the work of the CCC.

For more than twenty-five years, the annual Catholic Communication Campaign collection has supported a variety of Catholic programming both nationally and locally. The 2006 CCC collection will be taken up in most parishes the weekend of May 21.
