     2006 Pallium Lecture Series Opens January 31
 
  The 2006 Pallium Lecture Series opens with Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago, on Tuesday, January 31. Cardinal George's lecture is titled "At the Holy Center: Pope Benedict XVI." The evening will begin with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by the lecture, a question and answer session, and a reception. The event is free and will be held at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center, 3501 S. Lake Dr., St. Francis.

Other visitors to the Lecture Series include:

  • John Allen, Vatican correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter, Mon., Feb. 27;

  • James Nicholson, United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Tues., April 4; and

  • Edward Cardinal Cassidy, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Thurs., May 4. Cardinal Cassidy's lecture will be held at the Milwaukee Public Museum in conjunction with the "Saint Peter and the Vatican" exhibition.

In 2003, Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan introduced the Pallium Lecture Series as an opportunity for members of the Catholic community of southeastern Wisconsin to learn from national and international experts on a variety of topics that are pertinent to Catholic life in today's world.
