The preparation and distribution of this index has been a project of the Sedona (Arizona) Genealogy Club. Our thanks to club member Hal Weckler for preparing this project. The information it contains was found mainly in the Red Rock News. The time frame covered by this index is the years 1963 through 2000.

1. RED ROCK NEWS

The Sedona Public Library holds microfilm copies of this publication.

The Department of Library, Archives and Public Records at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix has or will have in the future microfilm of the Red Rock News for many of the years covered by this index. Phone 1-800-228-4710

The Cline Library at Northern Arizona University, Special Collections Section, also holds microfilms of the Red Rock News (Phone 1-520-523-2171.)

The Red Rock News, located at 298 Van Deren Street, Sedona, phone 1-520-282-7795 has microfilms from 1980 on for use of the staff only and bound volumes available to the public covering 1976 to present.

An alphabetical file of many of the more recent, actual Sedona Obituary Notices is available at the Family History Center in the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Cottonwood, Arizona.

2. THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC

The Arizona Republic is a Phoenix-based newspaper with statewide circulation and news coverage. Files of this newspaper should be available at most libraries in the state as well as at the newspaper itself.

 B = Birthdate or birthplace. An X in this column indicates the notice contains this information.

HN = Hardscrabble News. This was the predecessor to the Red Rock News. It was published September 1962 to early August 1963.

IND = Verde Independent. Published in Cottonwood, Arizona.

N = Nee or maiden name. An X in this column indicates the notice may give a clue to the lady's maiden name.

RRN = Red Rock News. Also referred to as the Sedona Red Rock News.

REP = Arizona Republic. Published in Phoenix, Arizona.

S = Survivor. An X in this column indicates that the notice lists one or more named survivors.

The date in the PUB DATE column is generally the date of publication and not the date of death.
