FACES Students Continue to Excel
For the last six years, the Fond du Lac Area Catholic Education System (FACES) has required students in Grades 4 and 8 to take the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE). FACES believes that the information gathered in the tests is a valuable tool for teachers to address curriculum changes and student needs, as well as establish data assessments to use with the new No Child Left Behind mandates, even though we are not required to do so by law. These tests measure the levels at which students succeed in relationship to the state standards of the curriculum content areas for Grades 4 and 8.
FACES also requires students in Grade 2 to take the Terra Nova test. Terra Nova tests are given in reading, language and math as a benchmark of student progress to be used by teachers and parents. The State of Wisconsin does not require Grade 2 testing and therefore we do not make any state comparisons.
The test scores below represent the percent of FACES students scoring proficient and advanced in each of the content areas. FACES scores have been consistently above state levels over the last six years. Excellent teachers, a curriculum aligned to the state standards, and smaller class sizes all contribute to the success of the students experience at FACES.
