Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) offers the latest security enhancements and features, including:

Broader OS and database support, including Windows Server 2003 SP1 and SQL 2000 SP4, which enables you to leverage the latest Windows Server System software.

Support for x64 platforms which allows MOM 2005 to run on and monitor the latest high performance hardware.

License usage alerting which enables you to receive alerts when product usage exceeds the configured threshold of licensed OMLs.

Many customer-requested enhancements to better support enterprise scenarios:

Support for disjoint namespaces with mutual authentication

Support for NETBIOS names containing dot

Improved robustness of heart beating and Microsoft Connector Framework

The MOM 2005 SP1 Setup program requires Windows Installer 3.1. To learn more about this requirement, see Knowledge Base Article 905548.

For more information about installing MOM 2005 SP1, see the MOM 2005 SP1 Installation Guide.

Get MOM 2005 SP1 Now

To download MOM 2005 SP1, select from the language editions available in the Download box.

Note that the MOM 2005 SP1 software available here requires a prior installation of MOM 2005. Note that MOM 2005 SP1 requires MSI 3.1 on both the server and on agents. To get MOM 2005 with integrated SP1, please refer back to the channel where you obtained MOM 2005.

More information about Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 can be found in KB article 893803.

This Windows Installer 3.1v2 update (version 3.1.4000.2435) was released as a High Priority update on 5/12/2005. Installing the Windows Installer update generally requires a reboot following installation. If you have not installed this, it is useful to consider bundling the Windows Installer update with recent security updates that have been released.

Note that it is a supported configuration for MOM 2005 agents to report to a MOM 2005 SP1 Management Server. This scenario allows you to get the MOM servers to SP1 first and then update agents as managed servers get Windows Update 3.1v2.
