One thing that's really annoyed me here in Boston is the amount of people walking down the street on in the convention center who are so pre-occupied spinning their wheel on their Blackberry they don't actually look where they are going and nearly walk into you.

Very similar to the Blackberry Helmet Video

So today whilst I was preparing for my Security session I thought I'd have some fun blue-jacking people's devices using the Sniper software which is available from Modaco.

So I sat blue-jacking people's Blackberries sending messages:

"Warning - you are about to walk into someone"

"Please look where you are going"

"Stop doing your email - it can wait"

I know it's sad on my part but it was such fun! :)

I recently got contacted by the team over at McAfee who have just released their beta of their Windows Mobile 5 product!  If you haven't tried it already you can do so using the link below:

McAfee® VirusScan® Mobile provides the leading solution for real-time protection against viruses, worms, dialers, Trojans and battery-sapping malware providing a safe mobile experience. VirusScan Mobile is the only product designed from the ground-up for mobile protection. It protects against the threats that originate from e-mail, instant messaging, internet downloads and Web surfing, automatically detecting and cleaning infected files before they can attack the device. Your device will be protected from SMS, MMS, Bluetooth and other entry points. Up-to-date protection is delivered as soon as threats are identified. Installation is fast and easy. McAfee VirusScan Mobile brings the ultimate in mobile device protection and provides a safe and worry-free mobile experience.

McAfee® VirusScan® Mobile is available for Windows Mobile Pocket PC/Smartphone, supporting WM5 as well as WM2003 devices. While VirusScan Mobile for WM5 is still in beta, McAfee already released a version for launch of Motorola's Q in the US. Further information can be accessed directly on McAfeee's mobile-beta site http://beta.mcafeemobile.com/

I hadn't seen this on any of the normal Windows Mobile sites (I'm sure you'll see an exclusive on one site soon when they steal it from my blog ;) )

But my Dutch colleague just pointed out that HTC have announced two things:

1) They have announced they are branding all QTEK products now HTC.

2) They announced two Windows Mobile 3G Devices:

Firstly they announced the TyTn - which (without a picture) looks like it's the HTC Hermes device (codename) and secondly the MTeor which I believe is the HTC Breeze.

From their press release...

TyTN is not all work and no play. It's easy to sync-up to a PC to download music, video and pictures, and store them on a micro SD card to play back on the go. It is also a sharp shooter, featuring a 2 Megapixel camera with macro mode, on-screen controls and DSC (Digital Still Camera) functionality plus a second camera for video telephony. Available in Black & Silver, the TyTN doesn't compromise in style. TyTN offers maximum functionality packaged in a sleek form factor, weighing in at 180g but extremely compact in size.

The HTC MTeoR, the world's first 3G Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone, is a stylish, slim-line, candy bar device. It may be small, just 112.4 x 49 x 14.8mm and weighing a mere 120g, but this neat device is a powerful and "smart" phone. The HTC MTeoR features Windows Mobile 5.0 Direct Push technology for immediate synchronization of email, calendar and notes plus document viewers for PDF, Word, Excel® and PowerPoint®. It's the ideal choice for busy people on the road who only want to carry one small device.

With superb multimedia functionality it's easy to store and play back music, video and pictures on the move. Coupled with its large 2.2" TFT LCD screen and built-in 1.3 Megapixel camera, the MTeoR truly has smart style.

Both devices will be available across Europe from late July

Whilst at TechEd I got to play with a Motorola Q - all I can say is Wow!

For those Blackberry users obsessed with their side wheel  - you are in for a treat!

The device is very slim and the use of the jog wheel makes single handed operation a reality!

It's a real shame it's CDMA and not GSM as we can't get it in Europe :(

One of my colleagues who has the Q also posted this really interesting article on how to use it as a powerpoint clicker :)

The HP 69xx and 65xx devices are particularly interesting as you can have GPS to tell you how far from the hole you are!

One of the things I got asked a couple of times at MEDC was how to print from a Windows Mobile Device to a printer either via IRDA, Bluetooth or wirelessly.

Here are a couple of partner solutions that will help you do that...
