Small town, working class from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. 1990 went to work for the MDOC; the very forefront of the U.S. Prison / Industrial Complex.
I learned there, the hard way, that if I wasn't one of them; "they" would be pit against me. Survived thus far in spite of the long, dangerous and mine-filled path traveled and I've learned much along the way. ...”There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…”
Unless of course you are an unfortunate soul who happens to live in a country under occupation by a superpower that lacks regard for the rights afforded civilian populations under international law, say one of the 40,000 residents unable or unwilling to abandon their homes during the US assault on Fallujah, Iraq in November 2004.

A high-ranking Red Cross official estimated that “at least 800 civilians” were killed in the first 9 days of the November 2004 assault on Fallujah (Inter Press Service, 16 November 2004) – an operation originally codenamed “Thanksgiving massacre” (Telegraph, 24 December 2004).
Once again US forces committed major war crimes:
The city was placed ‘under a strict night-time shoot-to-kill curfew’ with ‘anyone spotted in the soldiers’ night vision sights…shot’ (Times, 12 Nov 04)
Male refugees were prevented from leaving the combat zone (AP, 13 Nov 04)
US forces were filmed killing an unarmed, wounded Iraqi (Guardian, 16 Nov)
US warplanes dropped 3 bombs on the Central Health Centre clinic, killing 35 patients (including 5 children under the age of ten) and 24 medical staff (The Nation, 13 Dec 04)
Refugees from the city claimed that ‘a large number of people, including children, were killed by American snipers’ (Independent, 24 Nov 04).
US forces used phosphorus weapons ‘that create a screen of fire that cannot be extinguished with water’ (Washington Post, 10 Nov 04).

The reaffirmation of the Bush Presidency with his election on November 2nd, 2004 was followed almost immediately with preparations for and then a large scale offensive military action against the city of Fallujah, Iraq. The situation in Fallujah had been a standoff since April 2004, awaiting the outcome of the Presidential race.
Today a similar stalemate exists between the government of Iran and the United States over the refinement of uranium by the Iranians.
A diplomatic solution is regarded as highly unlikely as the Iranians are not in violation of international law and economic sanctions would be more damaging to those imposing them than on Iran.
The principal lesson of Fallujah we may have yet to learn, in that this Administration will simply wait to conduct pre-emptive and illegal military action until the political costs at home are minimized.

In less than 6 months the November mid-terms will be history and my “theory” will be put to the test.

Falujah will just have to wait.
Hang in there, Rumsfeld is going to take us to Hell. Fallujah was simply a preview.
