Dr. Syed Azman Syed Ahmad is specialized in Middle East and South East Asian politics and is a Member of Parliament for the Party Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), the largest opposition party in Malaysia.
He is currently employed as MP in the State of Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu seat after he resigned as lecturer to join the PAS and contest the elections in 1999.
With a Ph.D. in Political Education from the University of Birmingham, England, he has written many books and articles in local and international journals. Some of his writings are:
1. The Rise of Islamic Revivalism in Malaysia.
2. An examination of the political knowledge and attitudes of Malaysian students studying in the United Kingdom.
3. The experience of Federalism in Malaysia.
Recent International Assignments:
Member of the Democratic Institute (NDI)/Carter Center observation group in the recent Indonesian election (1999).
Visiting research fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), Tokyo, Japan 1999.
Member of Malaysian Parliamentary delegation to Yemen, Indonesia and Singapore in 2000.
