TurboGears Installation on Windows
Click on the link below that best describes what you have on your system:
- I don't have Python 2.4 for Windows yet.
- I don't have setuptools/Easy Install yet
- I have Easy Install
I need Python!
- Download Python 2.4.1 for Windows.
- Run the installer
- Add Python to your path. Go to System Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables and add or edit the PATH variable to have ";C:\Python24;C:\Python24\Scripts". (If you installed Python to a directory other than C:\Python24, make sure you substitute the correct directory.)
- Continue on to the instructions to install with ez_setup
Installation with ez_setup
Even though you don't have Easy Install yet, you can still take advantage of it. Instead of one-command installation, it will be two-step installation. And, you'll have Easy Install for the next update!
- Download the ez_setup.py script.
- At your command prompt, switch to the directory that you downloaded ez_setup.py to and run
ez_setup.py -f http://www.turbogears.org/download/index.html TurboGears.
Congratulations! You're ready to roll!

Installation with Easy Install
Here we go! One command to get you up and running:
easy_install -f http://www.turbogears.org/download/index.html TurboGears
If you get an error message saying that the command was not recognized, you may need to set your path. Go to System Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables and add or edit the PATH variable to have "C:\Python24;C:\Python24\Scripts". (If you installed Python to a directory other than C:\Python24, make sure you substitute the correct directory.)
