The Converter

What is "The Converter"? A software application that would convert Persian text typed in Perso-Arabic script into its equivalent in and vice-versa. In other words a Perso-Arabic to UniPers, or UniPers to Perso-Arabic, one-to-one word converter.

How should it work? Here are some requirements:

1. The process of conversion will be completely automated with no manual corrections required.
2. The software would have to be smart enough to make necessary adjustments to the spelling of the words, based on the context or the sentence in which they occur.
3. It should be user-friendly with just the right number of levers and dials. It ought to also function as a text editor or word processor.

What are some of its uses?

1. The converter would be of enormous value to students of basic Persian language. They could easily convert the complex Perso-Arabic into simple and readable UniPers text.
2. For the intermediate students, it can be of assistance in learning the Perso-Arabic spelling of the words.
3. It can help all users learn the current standard pronunciation of the words. Unlike Perso-Arabic, UniPers is phonemic. Therefore, the reader of Persian in UniPers can learn the exact pronunciation of the words rather than having to resort to guessing.
