WWF Attitude

Heeeeeeellllooooo......ladies! Do you smell what Acclaim is cookin'!?! Acclaim Austin is at it again with their new beefed up WWF ATTITUDE. A blast of an experience from top to bottom. This is Acclaim's last kick at the WWF license the rights have been transferred to THQ. Knowing that, Acclaim studios knew their damn role and made the best possible game that they could. So read on Dojo Disciples and find out why this game opens a can of whoop ass on the competition. Or maybe you should just get aboard the hoooooooo train!?!?

Solid! The hi rez representation of the WWF superstars are first rate. All of their moves are well represented as well. I was stunned to see how accurate some of the entrances are. Even little things like the way the rock throws a stomp on some jabroni is really neat! Utilizing the expansion pak, WWF Attitude is as smooth as Sable's ass and as accurate as a Tombstone. All of the environements including raw, king of the ring and more are represented here. Throw in some blood and your rocking!

gameplay
The one thing that may have been overlooked is the collision detection. Sometimes players walk through eachother or hit each other from too great a distance. This is a minor annoyance but it could have been tweaked a little better. Overall though, Attitude is undoubtedly the strongest visual representation of wrestling that's on the market. It's hard to top acclaim for graphics.

gameplay
But graphics aren't everything. No sir. This game talks the talk as well dojo disciples. Lets face it, listening to what the wrestlers, fans and announcers say is about 50% of the wrestling experience. No other game captures this essence of wrestling as well as Attitude does. From the excellent color commentary of The King and Shane McMahon to the individually captured grunts of each wrestler you simply can't find a better audio representation of the sport. The crowd is interactive and chants some pretty funny stuff!! You can set the audio to teen to hear the real goods! Also, I noticed that as you progress through your career you can become either a heal or a fan favorite. Really cool. Not only that but if you create a player using the given names they will actually shout your name! Wicked! Once, again, Attitude is simply unsurpassed when it comes to audio.

Hey, how about a juke box mode where you can select the tunes and play them? This feature would have really keyed in on the great audio of Attitude.

gameplay
The create a player option steals the show here. You can create just about anyone. And I mean that. You could probably even create your neighbour, your first girlfriend Bill Clinton, anoyone! And with the dex drive the possibilities of creating and trading are limitless!! This mode is undoubtedly the best on the market. Don't forget that you can also customize your own pay per view form the matches that take place to the appearance of the arena. INCREDIBLE!

As for gameplay itself. There's no simply grapple system here. If you want to throw the people's elbow you'll have to learn it and earn it. This is a much more rewarding aspect of gameplay then THQ's system.

There are whack of matches including first blood, cage, gauntlet, hardcore and more. Also featured is a wicked season mode that sees you climbig the WWF ranks to get the ultimate prize, the Heavyweight championship belt. Grudge matches, other wrestler's interfering and much more all affect your climb to the top.

Overall, the gameplay of Attitude is rewarding and exciting. I like the fact that you really have to wear the guy down to perform your special move. Good stuff here!

multiplayer
As THQ originaly proved with World Tour, no game lends itself to multiplayer mayhem like a wrestler does! Call over three of you friends, create each other and kick the shit out of each other in any match that you like. Great!

overall
A great damn game that has all of the atmosphere and excitement of the WWF! It's a shame that this is Acclaim studios last WWF game but they are working on others... As for Attitude, don't hesitate to pick this funky number up. Because come November it's going to become hard to track down thanks to the legal harang of licenses! Attitude is a shitload of fun and a barrel of laughs as it takes itself in the same vein as the entertainment it represents!

final score 9.6/10
