OFFICIAL 2006 PITBULL/PUBLICE ENEMY MEMORIAL CUP!

10.23.2006 UPLOAD INNOVATOR.:.:.Pro Wrestling Unplugged returned to the New Alhambra Arena on Friday night October 20th with the Pitbull/Public Enemy Memorial Cup Tournament. The doors opened up at 7 PM with the massive Tournament Cup/Trophy sitting in the center of the NEW PWU ring, all covered up.

Prior to the show the Ugly Babies came out to “Cotton Eye Joe” to get the crowd of well over 550 people going! The show started promptly at 8 PM with all of the tag teams, excluding the “Mystery Team,” out at ringside. Then from the speakers blasted “Thunderkiss ‘65” by White Zombie to celebrate the arrival of PWU’s owner, Tod Gordon, his Executive Assistant, Annie Social, and the surviving member of the honorees of the tournament, “The Pitbull” Gary Wolf! They then unveiled that massive trophy that would be awarded later on in the evening. Ms. Social then took the microphone and proclaimed that this tournament would be wrestled under “Hardcore Rules” just like Durante and the Public Enemy would have liked it! Immediately following that announcement the very attractive blonde who was the trophy presenter looked at Annie Social the wrong way and that started a CAT FIGHT!

After order was restored, Tod Gordon presented the capacity crowd with a video tribute of Durante and the Public Enemy. After the video, Wolf really got the crowd into it with some nostalgia… “Put your hands in the air! And wave ‘em around like you just don’t care!” And the crowd danced to the Public Enemy’s theme.

The match that kicked off the tournament was the Briscoe Brothers and the Krash Krew. And they did exactly what Annie Social wanted… This match spent about a total of 2 seconds in the ring as the entire match was out in the crowd! The Krew almost took out the WYBF and PWU merchandise tables before they were able to sell anything! The Briscoes got this first round victory when Mark landed the Shooting Star Press for the win! This match however had a causality, due to miscommunication Mark actually knocked out 1 and a half of Jay’s teeth! They would come out later on to say that Jay would have to be rushed to the hospital… But Mark would continue on with or without his brother!

The next match featured a pair of veterans, the BackSeat Boyz, taking on the young up-and-coming team, the Angus Brothers. The BackSeats would advance in the tournament when the landed the trademarked, Dream Sequence!

The next match featured the Outcast Killas taking on the “Mystery Team.” Who was the team that would enter? None of than the “Notorious 187” Homicide and Ricky Reyes… The Rottweilers! And this team made a HUGE impact, as the “surprise” proved to be too much for the Killas to handle.

The final first round match pitted the feud that took place all summer… All Money Is Legal and The S.A.T.s! The S.A.T.s proved all summer to be too much for AMIL but tonight they were able to shock the world when Pusha reverses the Spanish Fly into a Tornado DDT for the win! That’s right the PWU Tag Team Champions were knocked out in the first round!

We then took a break from the tournament for the Women’s Championship match. Mercedes Martinez defended her title against the very unlikely opponent and the MAN that won his shot when he beat Pete Hunter at Hot Streak 2, Detox! Detox’s sneaky tactics didn’t work against the champion… In fact, Martinez proved to be too much for Detox to handle most of the match. Martinez retained her title when Detox got frustrated and used his spray paint bottle on Martinez. For more words with Detox, check out “iPWU Overload” on ProWrestlingUnplugged.com.

Next was the PWU Hardcore Championship Match up between Corporal Robinson and “The Samoan Storm” Afa Jr. Robinson came out and said that Afa Jr. did not show up because “… it looks like Vince gave him a job.” He then went on to set new rules for the Hardcore Championship. He said that he was “tired of waiting for a three count.” So from now on the PWU Hardcore Championship can only change hands on a knockout or submission!

Corporal Robinson then challenged the PWU locker room to a Hardcore Match… In fact, Corporal Robinson would have 3 title matches in a matter of 10 minutes! First he would knockout Aramis, then he knocked out Casey Blade, and finally he was able to make “The Complete” Pete Hunter tap out!

The second round of the tournament kicked out with The Briscoe Brother taking on Homicide and Ricky Reyes! But who, if anybody, would help Mark Briscoe? Our question was answered when BLKOUT’s, Joker, came out to help! However, after Joker hogged the spot light for awhile. Mark finally tagged himself in and that’s when Joker turned on him and helped Homicide and Reyes advance. Homicide took the microphone and proclaimed Joker his “hired assassin!”

The next match up was The BackSeat Boyz and All Money Is Legal. Some fans were calling this match, the “Match of the Night.” Despite Acid and Kashmere being the favorites to win, AMIL shocked the world for a second time when they beat the BackSeat Boyz! That set up the final match between All Money Is Legal and The Rottweilers!

Before we had our tournament final though, we had the PWU World Heavyweight Title Match between reigning champion, Devon Moore, and Dragongate’s Azrieal! This was a fast paced match between two competitors that actually fought back in March at Jam Session Rebound when Devon Moore was still Junior Heavyweight champion. This match however ended in rather odd fashion. The two battled their way into the back and only emerged when Azrieal hung Moore by his wrists from the Eagle’s Nest! Azrieal got the win by count out, however did not win the title as it cannot change on a disqualification. Azrieal after the match made it sound like this match was “only the beginning!”

And now it was our Main Event which did not disappoint! Tod Gordon and “Pitbull” were both out at ringside for the final. All Money Is Legal had the crowd support behind them while Homicide and Ricky Reyes had Joker! About halfway through the match the other Tag Teams emerged from the back and chased Joker out to be sure that this would be an even two on two contest. At one point, AMIL hit the drive as a tribute to the Public Enemy! The match ended when Homicide went to hit the Cop Killa but Pusha reversed it and rolled Homicide up for the three count! All Money Is Legal are you winners of the first ever Pitbull/Public Enemy Cup! Pitbull and Tod Gordon congratulated all the teams. But that is not what Homicide and Reyes wanted as they attacked PWU Security, fans, and anyone else who got in their way! The S.A.T.s then began the “Na Na Na” chant that closed out the show!
