"We must have a foreign policy that is both strong and smart. Yes, the Republicans have been strong, but they haven't been smart. And the policy is one big mess, everyone knows it."
You are brave. You are courageous. You mean well. You are correct on just about every issue facing America. You are also politically clumsy, rhetorically impotent and are an election time bomb that picked the worst time to go off. Please close your mouth, sit in the corner and do not say anything until this campaign season is over. Oh, and by the way, don't run for president again either.
Going into yesterday, the Democrats were on the verge of capturing both the House and maybe the Senate. Now both milestones are in jeopardy because of a ... more»
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean today sent a letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman calling on the Republican leader to confirm that "the RNC will refrain from engaging in, assisting in or participating in any" program that could potentially disenfranchise voters in these midterm elections. The letter specifically calls on Mehlman to comply with both the letter and spirit of a "consent decree," which was entered into as a result of a lawsuit the DNC filed against the RNC over Republican so-called "ballot security" initiatives that targeted predominantly African American and Hispanic voters to ... more»
The Bush Regime has used Cheney as the scary asshole figure for at least 4 years-- after kindly, brilliant elder statesman image failed dismally; it's supposed to make Bush look better by comparison and also stave off would be impeachment enthusiasts. It doesn't work and everyone I know wants a simultaneous impeachment. Now, as they are threatened with devastating electoral losses in both houses of Congress, they're eager to demonize other people. And Cheney, of course, has been leading the charge.
He picked a lively one to attack today, someone who isn't laying down and allowing himself to be run over: Harlem congressman Charlie Rangel. The idea is that when Democrats take over the committee chairmanships-- which is, after all exactly what the majority of Americans want to happen-- Democrats will do... what? Things that reactionaries and fascists abhor? That's the idea. These guys don't seem to understand that the overwhelming majority of Americans see them as abject failures in everything they've done and that it's time to start the long and arduous process of cleaning up after them.
Charlie Rangel is part of the cleaning up crew, along with a score of other mature, capable, experienced members of Congress, many of whom are not motivated by the naked personal greed of Republicrook leaders like Tom DeLay, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, Jerry Lewis, Denny Hastert, Roy Blunt, Bob Ney, Dirty Dick Pombo, Charles Taylor, Curt Weldon, John Doolittle, Don Young, Tom Feeney, Duncan Hunter or fueled by bizarre and authoritarian ideologies like Tom Tancredo, Mean Jean Schmidt, Jim Sensenbrenner, Marilyn Musgrave, J.D. Hayworth ... more»
30 Oct 2006 The American military has not properly tracked hundreds of thousands of weapons intended for Iraqi security forces and has failed to provide spare parts, maintenance personnel or even repair manuals for most of the weapons given to the Iraqis, a federal report released Sunday has concluded... The American military did not even take the elementary step of recording the serial numbers of nearly half a million weapons provided to Iraqis, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction found, making it impossible to track or identify any that might be in the wrong hands. [That's the ... more»
I'm concerned that you're playing things a bit too safe by choosing to remain in the legislature. Why haven't you considered a run for Congress? You definitely have what it takes. You're decision to cover-up your brother-in-laws sexual abuse of a young waitress at your restaurant is proof of that.
Seriously, your actions aren't any different than those of Rep. Heather Wilson (R-NM). As the head of NM Department of Children, Youth and Families, she hid a file documenting her husband's sexual abuse of ... more»
