AWAKENING is the first issue of Ô-Môi Zine.  This publication and debut is a manifestation of the vision and desire of queer female Vietnamese to express themselves, to share their experiences and to connect and empower others like themselves.

AWAKENING is a bilingual (Vietnamese and English) collection of poems, short stories, articles and art works about and by Vietnamese-heritaged lesbians, bisexual women and female-to-male (FTM) transgendered individuals.

Prior to Ô-Môi Zine AWAKENING, the only other publication about and by queer female Vietname was a special issue on queer female Vietnamese (1997) by Face to Face (Đối Diện) Magazine, a bilingual literary and art magazine on Vietnamese gays and lesbians.  Unsatiated from that first publication, Ô-Môi members envisioned another publication where they have complete artistic, editorial and publication control of the product.  Talks and groundwork including fundraising went underway.  Four years later the first bilingual issue on queer female Vietnamese, Ô-Môi members and friends PROUDLY present to you our first Ô-Môi Zine issue: AWAKENING.
