Special Commission to Study Allegations of Clergy Sexual Abuse Issues Follow-Up Report

The Special Commission to Study Allegations of Clergy Sexual Abuse issued a follow-up report in late 2003.

The Special Commission presented its Final Report and Recommendations to Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan on September 12, 2002. At that time, Archbishop Dolan asked Commission members to reconvene a year later and review the progress made by the Archdiocese.

The Commission members include Dr. Anthony M. Kuchan, Dr. Arthur R. Derse, Rev. Donald R. Hands and Mary Howard Johnstone, O.P.

The Follow-Up Report contains 21 recommendations in nine major categories. The Commission members notes that Archbishop Dolan and archdiocesan staff members have addressed all 21 recommendations in good faith and have moved expeditiously to correct the issues noted in each of the report's recommendations.

"I am grateful to the Commission members for their work over the past two years," said Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan. "There is no doubt in my mind that the work started by the Eisenberg Commission in March 2002 has led to the substantial progress made in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee with regard to the Church's response to victims-survivors of clergy sexual abuse of minors."
