March 24th marks the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero in El Salvador. To commemorate this event, various organizations under the leadership of the SHARE Foundation, will hold a prayer service on Monday, March 21st, 7:00p.m. at St. Sebastian’s Parish, 55th and Washington Blvd in Milwaukee. Archbishop Timothy Dolan, Lutheran Bishop Paul Stumme Diers and Rev Charles Schramm will be preside. Mayor Tom Barrett will present a proclamation declaring March 24th a Day of Recognition in Honor of Monseñor Romero.
In preparation for this event, Lisa Zeilinger, Regional Promoter for SHARE, has prepared bulletin inserts for Lent and a list of resources which could be used for parish programs. A few of these are available for free loan through the World Mission Ministries Library.
