EDUCATORS INVITED TO CROSS THE BORDER!!!!
and earn credit while doing it….

Principals! Religious Education Coordinators! Catechists! Teachers! Join us at the Juarez, Mexico – El Paso, Texas border this summer!

World Mission Ministries and the Educators Committee of the Clean Clothes Campaign invite you to participate in a Maryknoll sponsored program, Friends Across Borders July 23 to July 28, 2005. Fifteen participants from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will have the opportunity to meet (with the help of translators) people on both sides of the border and learn from them about the economy, environment, immigration, education, health, and the well-being of their families. During the six day experience (two travel and four full days on-site) participants will meet with people whose circumstances are vastly different from their own. In addition to visiting a transnational factory and other institutions that are part of the daily lives of those who live and minister in the area, there will be opportunities through translators to speak with immigrants, laborers, and those affected by the mysterious disappearance of hundreds of young women who worked in maquiladoras/sweatshops. There will be time each day for both personal reflection and faith sharing in community.
