The Traveling Monstrance Program, created to foster adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Adoration for Vocations, was inaugurated on October 16, 2005, at the Closing Celebration of the Year of the Eucharist, with Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
The monstrance for the program was blessed by Pope John Paul II on Easter, March 27, 2005. This was the very last monstrance blessed by the Holy Father for the purpose of Adoration for Vocations, before he passed away.
Earlier in November 2004, Pope John Paul II had initiated a world-wide effort of Adoration for Vocations, utilizing monstrances that he blessed for that purpose.
The Traveling Monstrance Program is now available for parishes, schools, religious communities, and shrines throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The two-fold purpose of this program will be to foster and promote Eucharistic adoration, and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament for Vocations. The Monstrance will also be available for special Liturgical Celebrations.
Ambassadors for Adoration of the Rosary Evangelization Apostolate will serve as the custodian and coordinator for the program under the guidance of Archbishop Dolan.
