Archdiocese of Milwaukee Seminarian Instituted as Lector at Pontifical North American College

Aaron Esch, an Archdiocese of Milwaukee seminarian studying at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, was instituted as a lector on January 15. Archbishop Michael Miller, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, presided at the Mass.

The institution as lector is one of the ministerial steps leading toward diaconal and priestly ordination. A lector is charged with preaching the Word of God in the liturgical assembly, instructing children and adults in the faith, and preparing all to receive the sacraments worthily.

The Pontifical North American College is the American seminary in Rome that is owned and operated by the United States Bishops.
