     The Spiritual Patient

The growing roles of spirituality and ancient therapies in contemporary medicine are the focus of a new Milwaukee Public Television documentary.

The Spiritual Patient will examine how Milwaukee health care and religious leaders are taking a holistic approach to treating our bodies and souls. MPTV viewers will learn why a Catholic nun and her colleagues are offering natural healing to Milwaukee’s Latino community and why health care providers are integrating eastern therapies with conventional medicine. The documentary also profiles a central city Lutheran church that’s turned its basement into a free health clinic for the neighborhood. It explains the spiritual mission of The Jewish Chaplaincy Program, Catholic AIDS Ministry, and explores the special bond between a group of faithful cancer patients and a 14th century saint.

Raul Galvan serves as executive producer for the 30 minute documentary. Broadcast journalist Mark Siegrist is host and producer. The Spiritual Patient will air at 7 PM, Wednesday, November 22nd, on WMVS Channel 10, Milwaukee Public Television. The documentary will be repeated at 8 PM, Friday, November 24th, also on Channel 10
