     Bishop Sklba Elected Chair of Board of Trustees of Catholic Biblical Association
 
  Milwaukee Bishop Richard J. Sklba was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Biblical Association of America. Bishop Sklba was nominated for the position by the Committee on Nominations and was elected by the membership at the annual business meeting on Aug. 7 at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Bishop Sklba, who has been Milwaukee's auxiliary bishop since 1979, completed the equivalent of a master's and doctorate degree in sacred scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the University of St. Thomas Aquinas "Angelicum" in 1965. Bishop Sklba has been a member of the Catholic Biblical Association of America since 1968 and served as its president in 1982.

The CBA was formed in 1936 and its worldwide membership is greater than 1,200. The CBA promotes biblical study by providing support to scholarship students in doctoral Scripture programs and to young scholars after graduation and by helping fund archaeological digs.
