     Transforming Africa: A 40-Day All Africa Continental Fast

During January 2000 a group of church leaders, representing a number of regions in Africa, denominations and several regional or subcontinental prayer networks from across the continent, gathered in Kampala, Uganda, for a strategic meeting to discuss the way forward for the church in Africa. One of the outcomes of the meeting was to hold a continent-wide 40-Day Fast, called Transforming Africa, from Nov. 1 to Dec. 10.

This is a historic event, because for the first time in the history of the church in Africa, all 58 nations and islands in and around the continent, with more one million people, will participate.

NUPSA, Network for United Prayer in South Africa, an interdenominational prayer ministry that is committed to building a strong, broad-based prayer network to support the Church in South Africa, prayerfully calls on:

o ALL "Africans in diaspora" (all those living outside the African continent) to participate;

o ALL churches and ALL organizations with ministries, missionaries and agencies in Africa to participate in and promote this initiative.

The focus of the 40 day fast is:
o Praying for the lost and unreached in Africa; :
o Praying about the bloodshed and wars in Africa; :
o Praying for the uprooting of witchcraft/idolatry in Africa; :
o Praying for revival in Africa; :
o Praying for economic/social development and restoration in Africa; :
o Praying for the release of the redemptive gifts of the Church in Africa. :

A prayer calendar is available in English, Swahili, Arabic, French and Portuguese at http://www.nupsa.org.za/transform.htm
