Jessica Pincomb, 32

While her friends held fun summer jobs as lifeguards, Jessica Pincomb worked at corporate sales internships throughout college. She wanted to embark on a career as soon as possible so that she could make her first million.

"I am results-oriented," she says. "I visualize every challenge and what steps I need to take to get to the outcome."

After a postgraduation European backpacking trip, Ms. Pincomb followed in her father's footsteps, pursuing a career in the software business. She landed a job at Computer Associates, now known as CA.

Demonstrating the same passion that she has for skiing, she hopscotched around the globe for the company, holding several senior roles by her mid-20s. She amassed years of business development experience in information technology.

Ms. Pincomb returned to New York in 2004 as vice president in charge of a sales division that generated $119 million in product revenues and another $4 million in consulting services revenues that year.

Soon after, software giant Microsoft lured Ms. Pincomb away from CA. The New York City marathoner with the firm handshake took on oversight of the development and implementation of branding strategy, product launches and strategic communications for the New York region. She is the youngest executive to hold that post, says boss Michael Robinson, general manager of the New York region.

"She is the navigator in the business," he says. "She keeps a chaotic sales environment calm and simple."

Ms. Pincomb's precision helped her region's sales team bring in revenues of more than $492 million in the 2006 fiscal year--104% of its quota. The team expects to exceed revenues of $600 million this year.
