Where was Brian Bevan born and for which Rugby League clubs did he play?
Martin Parker, Bury

THE JUDGE: Bevan, who served as a stoker in the Australian Navy during the war, was born in Sydney on 24 June 1924. He started his Rugby League career with Warrington and his jet-paced runs down the wing belied his weak-looking, spindly-legged appearance. Bevan scored a record 796 tries, winding down his career with Blackpool Borough in 1964.

How many times was Andy Gregory on the winning side in the Challenge Cup Final?
Jim Pickering, Morecambe

THE JUDGE: Seven times, twice with Widnes (1981 and 1984) and five times with Wigan Athletic (1988-92). He was only on the losing side once with Widnes - in the 1982 Final.

Did Billy Boston play for any Rugby League club other than Wigan?

THE JUDGE: Cardiff-born Boston, discovered while playing rugby in the army as a National Serviceman, played for Blackpool Borough after scoring 482 tries for Wigan. His career total was 560 tries and he was capped 31 times by Great Britain.

Has Joe Lydon ever played Rugby League for an overseas club?
Peter Jenkins, Southport

THE JUDGE: Lydon, a Challenge Cup winner with both Widnes and Wigan, played for Eastern Suburbs in Sydney for a season in 1987.

What was Alex Murphy's record in the Challenge Cup Final?
Jack Harvey, Wigan

THE JUDGE: Alex Murphy, one of the quickest scrum-halves ever to play Rugby League, appeared in four winning FA Challenge Cup Finals for three different teams: St Helens (1961 and 1966), Leigh (1971) and Warrington (1974). He was player-coach for three of the finals, and then as a full-time coach steered Warrington (1975), Wigan Athletic (1984) and St Helens (1987 and 1989) to the final. Alex also had a long stint as the outspoken summariser on BBCtv.
