Due to a high volume of passport applications processing times have increased substantially. The State Department advises persons seeking a passport to apply as early as possible before intended international travel. More information can be found at: http://travel.state.gov/
Traveling in North America:
If you are traveling to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda and have applied for but not received your passport, you may temporarily enter and depart from the United States by air with a government issued photo identification and Department of State official proof of application for a passport through September 30, 2007.

Please note: All international travelers will still need to provide the appropriate documentation required by their destination country. Travelers are advised to check with the State Department regarding foreign entry requirements.
