The Youth Encyclopedia of Canada was first published as The Junior Encyclopedia of Canada in 1991. It appeared on CD-ROM in a “Student Edition” before its implementation online as a companion to The Canadian Encyclopedia. While retaining the comprehensive nature of the full Canadian Encyclopedia, the entries of the Youth Encyclopedia are written in language more suitable for younger readers seeking quick information or introductions to a multitude of Canadian topics. James H. Marsh has been the editor in chief since its inception. At present the Youth Encyclopedia of Canada is available only in English.
