     Parish Council Calendar Notes
 
  The Office for Parish Councils and Planning encourages parish leaders to review the notes and timelines below. For additional information, refer to the archdiocesan parish council manual, "Living the Spirit, Leading With Grace, Wisdom and Vision" (2000), available from the Office for Parish Councils and Planning.

In January
Review the parish council Bylaws, Article 1. This is your guide through the process for selecting new members. Who will serve as the selection committee? Ask them to prepare a timeline for new member selection. Check Parish Council Manual pages 10-14 to 10-22.

Ask all committees to review their budgets. Are they on target? This is the time of year to begin to develop new goals for the coming year. What programs, services and activities will continue? Are there any new initiatives to consider? How might these impact the parish budget for your area of mission and ministry?

Ask the Finance/Administrative Services Committee to develop and share the budget process for the coming fiscal year with committees and staff. When and how will the budget committee receive committee and staff input?

In February
Encourage committees to finalize budget proposals based on anticipated goals for the coming year.

In March
Determine if the parish personnel policies are in place.
