Archdiocese of Milwaukee Announces Names of Three New Parishes

Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan has announced the names of three new parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The parishes will officially be formed on July 1. The mergers are a result of an on-going parish planning initiative that began in the 10-county archdiocese in the late 1980s. The parish planning process resulted in recommendations for many parishes throughout southeastern Wisconsin to work more closely together or directed parishes to merge.

In Milwaukee, St. Casimir and St. Mary of Czestochowa parishes will merge to form Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish. Rev. Gerald Hessel will serve as pastor. Fr. Hessel had served as pastor at both St. Casimir and St. Mary of Czestochowa. Both worship sites will remain open. The parish offices will be located at 3055 N. Fratney St.

In Beaver Dam, St. Michael, St. Patrick and St. Peter parishes will merge to become St. Katharine Drexel Parish. Rev. William Key will serve as pastor and Rev. Emmanuel Peter Udo will serve as associate pastor. Rev. Key was the moderator of the pastoral team that served all three parishes. Rev. Udo served as associate pro tem. All three worship sites will remain open. The parish offices will remain at 131 W. Maple St.

In South Milwaukee, St. Adalbert, St. John, St. Mary and St. Slyvester parishes will merge to become Divine Mercy Parish. Very Rev. Ronald Gramza will serve as team moderator and Rev. Robert Betz will serve as team member. All worship sites will remain open. The parish offices will be located at 1304 Manitoba Ave., South Milwaukee.
