You are invited to “celebrate” the IMF/World Bank’s 60th Birthday February 16, 2004
The IMF and World Bank will celebrate their 60th birthday in 2004. But it is no time for a
party -- not as long as the debt continues to impoverish and take away the sovereignty of
peoples and nations across the global South.
On the institutions’ 60th birthday, Jubilee USA Network is organizing a birthday card
campaign to the IMF and World Bank. Jubilee USA has developed birthday cards that call on
the IMF/World Bank to cancel 100 percent of impoverished country debt without conditions,
and the cards will be distributed to activists across the U.S. and around the world. The
hope is to generate thousands of birthday cards by mid-April. The cards will then be
released in front of the World Bank at an un-birthday party in Washington, D.C. on April 21,
just before the institutions’ spring meetings.
To order birthday cards to get signed in your community, call Jubilee USA Network at (202)
783-0129, or e-mail neil@jubileeusa.org today let them know how many you want to get
signed. The cards will be mailed to you to get signed in your community the week of Feb.
16, and then you simply send back your signed cards to the Jubilee USA Network by early
April. There’s no charge for the cards, but Jubilee USA will gladly accept donations to cover
the costs of printing and mailing.

Se acerca el 60 aniversario de la creacion del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y el
Banco Mundial solicite sus “tarjetas de cumpleaños” hoy mismo!
El FMI y el Banco Mundial celebraran su 60 aniversario en 2004. Pero este no es tiempo de
festejar - no mientras que la deuda continue a empobrecer y despojar de soberiana a los
pueblos y naciones en el Sur global.
Para el 60 aniversario la Red Jubileo USA esta organizando una campaña de tarjetas de
cumpleaños para el FMI y el Banco Mundial. Hemos diseñado tarjetas de cumpleaños
haciendo un llamado para que el FMI y el Banco Mundial cancelen el 100 por ciento de las
deudas de los paises enpobrecidos sin condiciones, y distribuiremos las tarjetas a los
activistas en todos los Estados Unidos y el mundo. Esperamos podener generar miles de
tarjetas firmadas hacia la mitad de abril cuando las llevaremos al frente del Banco Mundial
