International Education, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will welcome
Rigoberta Menchú Tum to campus on Friday, October 14. Rigoberta, a
Guatemalan human rights activist, of Quiché Maya heritage, has become widely
known as a leading advocate of indigenous rights and ethnocultural
reconciliation, not only in Guatemala but throughout the Western Hemisphere.
She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992.
Her presentation will take place on Friday October 14, 11:00 am at the
Wisconsin Room of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 2200 E Kenwood Blvd.
HOWEVER, through previous scheduling, seating in the Wisconsin Room is
already filled. It can be seen through a simultaneous webcast at the Union
Ballroom (no ticket required.)
To accommodate others the event will be available elsewhere on the UWM
campus and at various remote sites throughout the state as a simultaneous
webcast; if your school has a fast internet connection (non-modem), the
university can register your school as a remote site and provide a URL
