CSA- Helps Support Priests' Lifelong Commitment

Father Leo Seramur understands the meaning of commitment. Ordained on September 29, 1945, Fr. Seramur has served the Catholic community for more than 54 years. One of many retired priests in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee that currently receive financial assistance from the Catholic Stewardship Appeal (CSA), Father Seramur continues his commitment of service - even in his years of retirement.

As a missionary and teacher, Father Seramur has spent most of his life in service to others. His missionary work has taken him to various corners of the globe, building the Catholic faith through education and outreach.

Early in his career, Father Seramur was an educator at Saint Francis Minor, a Seminary located on the south side of Milwaukee. His experience as a teacher led to missionary work abroad, where he helped found an Archdiocesan mission in Paraguay, South America. After his service in Paraguay, Father Seramur returned to the United States and spent 20 years at a diocese in New Mexico.

Today, at 80 years old, Fr. Seramur is embarking on yet another journey to help spread the word of God. In January, Father Seramur was called to the Dominican Republic to conduct pastoral work in the archdiocesan-sponsored sister parish.

Fr. Seramur is just one of many retired priests in the Archdiocese that continue to serve the Catholic community in retirement. The CSA provides financial assistance to all retired priests that have given a lifetime of service and dedication to the Catholic faith. The CSA assists with health care needs, housing and other important issues to ensure that all priests live comfortable, productive lives in retirement.
