Promise to Protect - Pledge to Heal The Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response Services Office has several functions:
  • The director assists persons in making a report of sexual abuse and obtaining resources intended to help restore wholeness. Although the director does not function as a therapist to victims or investigate reports, her job is to provide compassionate help to those who have experienced or been effected by sexual abuse by Church personnel.
  • All reports of sexual abuse are forwarded to civil authorities. If civil authorities cannot take action, processes of independent investigation and review by the Diocesan Review Board occur, so that all priests and deacons with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse are permanently removed from ministry, in compliance with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
  • The director provides consultation to parish and school personnel in specific situations about how to report all instances of suspected abuse of children.
  • Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response Services staff can be reached at 414-758-2232 or 414-758-2230.

The Community Advisory Board is composed of representatives from various social services agencies and experts in the area of sexual abuse. The Board meets monthly with the Victim Assistance Coordinator and the Archbishop, providing guidance in the Archdioceses response to victims of sexual abuse by church personnel. The Board also assists the Archdiocese in its mission to create a safe environment.

To Report:
If you or someone you know was abused as a minor by church personnel and is now an adult, the Victim Assistance Coordinator is available to obtain support and make a formal complaint of abuse to the diocese. The Victim Assistance Coordinator can be reached at 414-758-2232 or petersona@archmil.org. To make a formal report outside of the Archdiocese, you may contact the Healing Center at 1-414-671-4325. If the abused person is currently under 18 years of age (minor) please report to the civil authorities. To locate the civil authorities in the 10 counties of the archdiocese please review page 2 of the manditory reporting responsibilities.
