GoNintendo “End of day” thoughts - Mega Max ZX Advent review

November 4th, 2007

EoD Stars Outside

Time for me to get some rest. The weekend is finally here…time to relax! We will be recording another early podcast today, which will be starting sometime around 3:00 to 3:30 PM EST. If you are looking to catch the live-stream, head to the site then. I’ll give another reminder post later. For now though, I am off to bed. See you guys in a few hours, enjoy the start of your weekend!

Doing an introduction for a Mega Man game feels absolutely ridiculous. While the expanded audience may not know Mega Man, I’d wager a wad of cash that a large majority of the readers here are very familiar with the character. How could you not be? Mega Man, in one form or another, has been an extremely popular character for 20 years now. As we progressed from console/portable generation to generation, the Blue Bomber has stuck with us. He has had a ton of ups, downs, and in-betweens…but we still love him. In recent years, it has been the Battle Network, and now Star Force series that has gained him the most attention. The younger crowd loves these titles, so much so that a cartoon series spawned out of them. While long-time Mega Man fans can find something to enjoy in that series, I am pretty sure they are more interested in the more traditional Mega Man titles. I am referring to the Mega Man Zero series that was on GBA, and has since been transformed into Mega Man ZX for the DS. These series provide the side-scrolling action that we constantly crave. Now, the first sequel to ZX is upon us. Does Advent bring anything new with it, or is this one of the Mega Man entries that we’d like to forget?

GoNintendo on Game Head

November 4th, 2007

I didn’t make a big fuss about this last night simply because it feels strange to do so! What I do want to do is make a post in order to thank the entire Game Head crew.

I was lucky enough to have a second appearance on Spike TV’s Game Head while out covering E for All. I caught up with Geoff Keighley while at the show, and he put me on the spot right there! About 5 minutes later the interview was over, and I was signing a release form. The world works in very mysterious ways!

There are clips with me throughout the show, but what I think is the coolest bit by far is the fact that they show an actual clip of the site! They happened to take the footage while our BWii banner was up, so reader BatMyke got his artwork featured on TV! That’s pretty damn awesome if I say so myself.

Once again, I just really want to thank the entire Game Head crew for having me on the show once again. It was an honor and a pleasure all at the same time. Thank you for the site plugs as well, it is greatly appreciated. Most of all, thanks to all of our readers! If it weren’t for you guys, my ugly mug would have never popped up on the show in the first place. It’s not so much GoNintendo represented on Game Head as it is you guys. I can’t thank you all enough.

Euro/Aussie VC roundup

November 4th, 2007

Once again Eurogamer rates the current crop of Euro/AU VC titles. Sonic 3D Blast is on the list, a game which I would very much like to forget. I have played it a few times over the years, each time hoping to find something redeeming. No matter how many times I go through, I just can’t consider it a true entry in the Sonic series. Still…it’s a lot better than recent Sonic outings.

Super Mario Galaxy review

November 4th, 2007

A portion of a GamePro review…

Galaxy is the kind of game that you’re going to want to take your time with because there is just so much to do in the game. This is the first game in a long time that I’ve actually gone back and replayed levels just for fun. It’s everything you loved about Mario 64 and nothing you hated about Super Mario Sunshine.

Reader DonnyDarko420 snapped these pics while he was out at Walmart. Looks like Barbie and Mario are doing the shilling for this holiday season. There’s also a pic of New Super Mario Bros. themed Matchbox cars…they’re new to me!
