For the third consecutive year, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee exceeded the goal of the Catholic Stewardship Appeal. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Catholic community of southeastern Wisconsin, the total surpassed the goal of $7.25 million by more than $200,000.

In March, Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan announced the creation of a grant program that would put this money into parishes, schools and organizations responsible for so much meaningful work. These grants will fund Catholic education and charitable programs, two priorities CSA donors support enthusiastically. These priorities are also consistent with those pastoral priorities outlined by Archbishop Dolan in the fall of 2004.

"The support of our annual appeal continues to amaze and impress me," said Archbishop Dolan. "I wanted the money from our Catholic Stewardship Appeal to go directly back to the people who work so hard to promote it within our parish communities.

"We were overwhelmed with requests. More than 150 grant proposals came in, adding up to 1.2 million dollars in requests. To review these excellent requests moved me to tears. The potential for good is so promising. There is so much love, devotion, and commitment in the archdiocese," said Archbishop Dolan.

Fifty-one grants that totaled more than $200,000 were awarded to parishes, schools and organizations. Archbishop Dolan will meet with representatives from the organizations on Tuesday, June 28, at 8:30 a.m. at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center, 3501 S. Lake Dr., St. Francis.
