June 9-10 Combined Collections: Church in the United States

“For the word of the Lord is upright; and all his work is done in faithfulness.
– Psalms 33:4

As members of a Catholic community, we acknowledge that the work of Jesus Christ is indeed done in faithfulness. Not only are each of us involved in the Lord’s work, but we support His work that is done by our brothers and sisters. The faith that binds us together also is the source of inspiration for so much of the good that happens in our midst.

(June 9-10, 2007) Combined Collections: Church in the United States appeal offers a wonderful opportunity to assist ministries that make an important impact. Members of the Catholic community of southeastern Wisconsin will contribute The four ministries that are supported in this appeal include:

  • Black and Indian Missions reaches out to those who seek Christ in what is often a hostile environment. Approximately half of the funds collected in our archdiocese are returned to us for grants to assist local projects and initiatives.
  • Catholic Campaign for Human Development confronts the causes of poverty, rather than merely treating its symptoms. Last year the Campaign distributed close to $150,000 to support local efforts for self-help projects and justice education programs.
  • Catholic Communications Campaign enables the distribution of the Good News of Christ both locally and nationally. Within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, more than 3,000 homebound Catholics have access to the Sunday Radio and Television Masses and a missalette service as a result of this ministry.
  • The Retirement Fund for Religious helps ensure adequate retirement funding for more than 50,000 elderly religious men and women nationwide who have dedicated their lives to ministry and prayer.
