Speaker Name Mary Colvig
Organization Mozilla Corporation
Type Talk
Scope General
How to Help Evangelize Mozilla in India & Beyond
Abstract Mozilla is tens of thousands of people from every continent connected by a clear understanding of the value of the Web and the importance of free and open access to this shared global resource. Have you ever wondered how you could be part of this global community? You don't just need to develop or test code to contribute. Mary Colvig, director of Mozilla's events program, will show you the ways you can get involved with Mozilla outside the development realm. These include website evangelism, speaking on behalf of the Mozilla project, writing documentation, university representation, planning events, celebrating the launch of Firefox 3 and more! In particular, she will walk through how to start a project at the newly relaunched SpreadFirefox.com and organize an install day, celebration or user group meetup to coincide with Firefox 3.

After sharing the many ways that interested people can help share and spread Firefox and Mozilla, Mary would like to conduct a brainstorming session on ways to increase awareness of the Mozilla project in India. She encourages all Firefox fans, Mozilla project supporters, developers, QA testers and other like-minded folks who are interested in helping evangelize and contribute to Mozilla and Firefox to attend.
Pre-requisites Just an interest in helping the Mozilla project!
Speaker Profile Mary Colvig oversees Mozilla's community events program. She has been involved with the Mozilla project for almost three years. She joined Mozilla as a full-time employee in June 2005 as a marketing manager. As director of Mozilla Events, Mary works to get the Mozilla community engaged in the offline world -- at conferences, user groups, install days, developer days and more.
