Little Things Mean A Lot

Sauna

Me: Hi is your pool area open today? silently thinking…please let it be open, please let it be open
Bally’s Staff member: Are you a member?
Me: Yes
Bally’s Staff Memer: Yes it’s open today

That was the conversation I had with Bally’s a few hours ago. The one in my area opens at 5:3o each morning. Those simple words “Yes it’s open today” made me extremely happy. Why? The past few weeks the pool area has been closed for repairs which of course made me unhappy even though I have a premium membership and go anywhere where Bally’s is located. I do have my preferences and I prefer sticking close to home.

The past few weeks I’ve been doing my workouts at the house. Actually most of my workouts are done at home. I mainly go to Bally’s for the sauna. Not only are they relaxing but it’s a great way to push out the extra impurities. Our skin is our largest eliminative organ. What better way to push out toxins than through sweating it out? Over the past few years and increasing number of medical clinics are starting to use saunas as part of detoxification. They believe that it is an effective way to detoxify the body from harmful chemicals.

Actually you don’t need to be in a sauna to accomplish some form of detox you can create something similar at home. I’ll write more about that at Healing Yourself Naturally later this week.

Although the pool area being open might not be a big deal for some of Bally’s members it is for myself and those who utilize the service. Those simple words “Yes it’s open!” meant a lot to me this morning. It has added a few more rays to my sparkling day.

The Fog

My Virtual Neighbors

As I thought about the relationships I have developed with some of my blogging pals over the months, and in some cases, a few short weeks or days I thought of why what they have done meant so much to me. They really did not do anything extravagant just little things, replying to the comments I’ve left on their websites, stopping by and leaving comments those to me were simple but they were effective since they got my attention. They made me feel welcome and have added their own personality to their virtual homes.

Last week I did a little thing I posted a picture of myself in the post titled A Rare Photo. I don’t do it often I have a picture on my about page. Many times I don’t feel that I should post anything but I have to remind myself that not everyone looks at my about page so perhaps it would be nice to post a picture within my post? This blog isn’t just”about me”.

Mystery Person

The Person Behind The Blog

Last week when I visited people within my little community I saw that Teeni of vaguetarian tearoom shared a lovely photo, Beth of Eclectic Studio Cafe posted a few beautiful photos from her youth, Calamity of Calmityville gave us another gorgeous photo along with the story behind her blog name, and last but definitely not least Mike Goad of Exit 78 shared a handsome photo from his recent vacation.

What inspired me to share a photo of myself? Thomas-Technical Blogger and Bush Mackel had both posted lovely photos of themselves.

It might have been a little thing to them but it meant a lot that they would share photos from their personal life on their blog. These bloggers all have one thing in common they are friendly and always make me feel welcome when I’m on their blogs. They help add personality to the internet. Those little things mean a lot to me. Thanks!

I’m now off to do my little thing spend some time in the sauna.

And no Ms. Teeni I have not forgotten the challenge that I made to you. ;-) You should see something later this week.

    Gee… thanks!

You also add great personality to the web and are very much appreciated.

Right on, Mike! If we were blogger Jedis in this blog-i-verse, I feel like Opal would be the force that holds us all together. And although I’d love to be Princess Leia, I think I’m probably more like an E-wok.

Yay! Beth Ellen jumped in! Mike, you could be Obi-Wan Kenobe or if you’re feeling mature, you could be Yoda! LOL. Um, Opal - what do you think - Thomas could be either Chewbacca or Lando,
MacBros could be C3-PO or Jar-Jar Binks? ROTFLMAO
Sorry. I couldn’t help myself for a minute and I really shouldn’t be using your comments to start a new party here - this would be a cool post to do though.

Back to the subject - It is wonderful to see so many bloggers feel friendly and comfortable enough that they can share the such private moments/photos with their buddies. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, it certainly makes us feel closer to these people - I LOVE it!

    Thanks Mike,
You all do and that is fabulous. At times it’s hard to add personality over the net but all of your personalities shine through even without the photos. I’m always learning from my blog pals. You’re picture is exactly how I pictured you all smiles. :-)
    teeni,
Crazy force most like it I would jump off while you can, hee hee!

    Beth,
Hmm, I really need to brush up on that movie so I know what is going on.

    teeni,
Hmm, you would know I only watched part of it. I did watch Space Balls, does that count?

    Mike,
I do remember Obi-Wan although vaguely but I did like Obi.

  • 7 Mike Goad // Oct 15, 2007 at 2:26 pm

It’s not just one movie. It’s the original three and then the new three made in the last few year where the story line takes place before the originals. In the original Obi-Wan was old, and in the new he was much younger.

Hmmm… I may have to dig out a couple of my old StumbleUpon avatars (circa 2004).

I LOVED Space Balls. Oh, Opal you need to see the Star Wars movies because Space Balls really was a fun parody of it.

I’d love to see Mike’s avatars. Too cool.

    It’s not just one movie.

LOL…got a giggle out of that Mike. I’ll promise I’ll watch it perhaps when I’m on holiday.

Cool I would love to see the avatars.

    teeni,
    I promise I’ll watch them.

    TruckerMan,
Well I actually know who darth maul is so I don’t feel totally clueless.

    Calamity,
I think Jar-Jar Binks is very cute.

I actually did see some of Star Wars after viewing Jar-Jar Binks but I did not watch it all. That was in the 80’s I think I remembered I just wasn’t interested, lol. I’ll see if it interests me now.

Detoxing your system is definetly a good idea for everyone. It’s really hot and humid here on the Mississippi gulf coast so every day is a good detox

I love the bluish mist in that picture! So richly colourful

    Bobby Revell,
    A daily detox sounds good.
Thanks I captured that picture last week. The mist overlooking my woods was beautiful. I had a wonderful time taking pictures. I took at least a hundred shots.

Are you sure your not me as a woman? ;) the gym by me had it’s pool closed for a year though! It was right after I signed a year contract too…ain’t that some bull. The sauna was still opened though and I miss it from time to time. Great way to get rid of impurities like you said.

I am the most unphotogenic person alive. I hate taking pictures, there’s only a couple I am actually ok with and I’m not courageous enough to post any of them. Although I have a small thumbnail up on BC and BL. You are much braver than I! Kudos!

    Online Gaming,
Hmm (looks down) you know that might be a possibility at times I wonder who the heck I am! ;-) Oh that would be frustrating I guess I should not fuss about the three weeks thing, eh?

    AnitBarbie,
After the first time it gets easier and nope I don’t think I’m photogenic either. It’s been fun though seeing my blog pals sharing photos from their real world.

My gym has a sauna and a steam room. I have never done either, but would like to try! How long do you steam for?

    Education Blogger,
I don’t use the steam room. I use the dry sauna. I stay in for an hour. I do sauna rounds which means after 15-20 minutes I hop out take a cold shower and go right back into the sauna. You perspire a lot more that way.

  • 23 Thomas // Oct 16, 2007 at 8:38 pm

I thought I commented on this earlier. After reading teeni’s comments
“Thomas could be either Chewbacca or Lando” I had to laugh.

After my work settles down a bit, I am looking foward to getting back into working out. I definitely feel the difference in my stress levels when I don’t work out consistently, and stressful it has been lately.
